The ‘We Are Here’ Women’s Rights Film Festival will screen eight documentaries and two shorts at Tishreen’s own renovated cultural space, high schools and student parliaments in the Triangle region. The festival takes place from 28 March to 8 May, with additional screenings in schools in May and June 2021.
‘We Are Here’ specifically highlights the way women are suffering in patriarchal and traditional societies. The festival promotes grassroots activism and wants to empower women and strengthen them in their fight for justice. Therefore, besides film screenings, Tishreen organises discussions with female filmmakers, human rights activists, lawmakers and other experts to discuss and share local and international perspectives.
