Before Dawn

2005, 13 minutes

At dawn, the refugees are barely discernable against the outline of the waving corn. The morning silence is broken by the sound of a clattering lorry. As the lorry comes to a halt, the abandoned fields turn out to be crawling with small silhouettes jumping into the lorry as a mass. Their dream seems within reach. The award-winning film Before Dawn depicts the despair of the large number of refugees that still exist in a country like Hungary, despite its entry into the EU in 2004.
