19 May – Roffa Mon Amour is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special series of events. On Thursday 19 May, the festival, in collaboration with Movies that Matter and the Arab Film Festival, will screen Maysaloun Hamoud’s Bar Bahar at the terrace of Paviljoen aan het Water in Rotterdam. Before the movie, you can eat a delicious falafel meal from Global Seasons.

23 May – Shelter City Utrecht & Peace Brigades International, in collaboration with Movies that Matter, presents a film screening of The Night Flowers, an award-winning, warm and casually composed portrait of a group of queer young people in Mexico who are trying to feel at home in their conservative environment while preserving their often hard-won identities.

Sakharov Special: F@ck This Job

In collaboration with the European Parliament, we present a special programme dedicated to Alexei Navalny, the Sakharov Prize winner 2021. This most important European human rights prize for Freedom of Thought was awarded last year to the Russian opposition politician and anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny. In this context, we are showing the films F@ck This Job by  Vera Krichevskaya in four movie theatres across the country.
