A selection of documentary film projects has been chosen to take part in the 2021 edition of Movies that Matter Take on Film & Impact. The teams behind the projects will attend both group and individual coaching sessions led by experienced impact producers and filmmakers in order to (further) develop their impact goals and strategies for their films. The focus will be on improving the projects’ impact pitches which will then be presented in front of a panel of NGOs and other organisations outside the film field related to the outreach goals of the projects.
20 April – Day 1:
On the first day we start with Nicole van Schaik of Doc Society giving a keynote, making us all understand how film can be a tool for an impact campaign, like nobody can.
Laura Longobardi of IMPACT DAYS FIFDH will share her newest gained insights on how to fill the toolkit for changemakers.
We are honoured to welcome the Kenyan team of the incredible film Softie to share with us how they shaped their successful impact campaign. Judy Kibinge of DOCUBOX will moderate this session.
Another amazing team will unfold their impact campaign: the film team of the taboo breaking film All That I Am, have designed an impact platform which can be used for different goals.
The morning will then conclude with a panel on How untold stories will get to the stage of festivals and television?
In the panel Cara Mertes (Ford Foundation), Axel Arno (SVT), Brigid O’Shea (DAE), Judy Kibinge (DOCUBOX) and Jihan El-Tahri (Dox Box) will explore the possibilities.
In the afternoon the film teams and the NGO’s, funds and others will prepare themselves for the pitches.
21 April – Day 2:
The morning will be filled with 8 projects pitching their impact plan to the panel.
In the afternoon round tables will be organized where film teams and NGO’s, funds and others meet and explore possibilities for cooperation.
