After the NPO 2Doc screening of Four Daughters, journalist Sophie Derkzen, will moderate a discussion with Nazmiye Oral, actrice, writer, playwright and main guest of Movies that Matter Festival 2024, and Bibi van Ginkel, Programme Lead of the Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) pillar of ICCT and Senior Research fellow.
Nazmiye Oral is an actress, writer and playwright. Nazmiye and her mother Havva achieved worldwide success with the theatrical performance Niet meer zonder jou. During the festival, Nazmiye will present the film adaptation of this theatrical performance.
Dr. Bibi van Ginkel is the Programme Lead of the Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) pillar of ICCT and Senior Research fellow. Her expertise spans a wide variety of focus areas of ICCT, from rule of law issues to trends and threat developments, counterterrorism, countering violent extremism responses, and prevention strategies, and the nexus between development and PCVE. She has published on this topics, as well as provided policy advise and training.
Sophie Derkzen is a presenter and program maker at VPRO. She presents on NPO Radio 1 the daily foreign affairs program Bureau Buitenland, in 2022 chosen by a professional jury as the winner of the Zilveren Reissmicrofoon for the best radio program of the year. On Radio 1 she can also be heard as an interviewer on VPRO’s Marathon Interviews, Nooit Meer Slapen and Publieke Tribune (HUMAN).
