On the 22nd of March the Movies that Matter Festival 2023 will open with a screening of the film Photophobia.
The 16th edition of Movies that Matter Festival will be opened on March 22 by artistic director Margje de Koning. Mert Kumru, campaigner at World’s Youth for Climate Justice, will give a speech at the opening.
The festival starts with the film Photophobia. This deeply touching fiction-documentary hybrid looks at at the war in Ukraine through the eyes of two children in search of a ray of light. Niki (12) and Vika (11) meet in the underground subway tunnels where their families hide from Russian bombs. ‘A positive attitude can help you forget everything.’
After the film there will be an interview with director Pavol Pekarčík. The evening will be moderated by Bahram Sadeghi.
