Keynote by Peggy Brandon and panel discussion

Last year, the festival took place just before the start of the Commemoration Year of the Dutch Slavery Past to reflect on this year. This year, we look back and forward through the lens of two films: The Black Pete Files by Festus Toll and Asema by Loëlle Monsanto. With them, we discuss the importance of art in processing, remembering, and acknowledging history.

The evening will begin with a keynote from Peggy Brandon, curator and pioneer of the Dutch National Slavery Museum in formation. Following the films, there will be a panel discussion with the filmmakers, Peggy Brandon, and Marlon Titre, director of Filmhuis Den Haag.

Moderation will be led by Maurice Seleky.
