Girlhood

In her search for status and a way out of her oppressive family, Marieme joins a group of friends, for who fighting and stealing are not uncommon.

Marieme, at first, enjoys her newfound status, and begins to act and dress like the other girls, only to realise that this isn’t the life she wants after all. Girlhood shows the reality of growing up in a Parisian suburb, struggling between a oppressive family and street life’s harsh rules.
