Just Kids: Spotlight on Merna
Mirjam Marks
The 11 year-old Iraqi/Christian Merna, stole the show at the blind
auditions of The Voice Kids Arab. Millions of people witnessed Merna
singing a song representing her people who suffer from war violence in
the Middle East. The song told the story of the many refugee children
whom she is one of. Spotlight on Merna is a feel-good film, in
spite of the situation. The story reveals a painful contradiction: her
uncertain life as an anonym refugee in Libanon and her life in de
spotlight thanks to her achievement as a finalist of The Voice Kids Arab.
