Making of the Revolution, The

Katarina Rejger

In September 2000, when Slobodan Milosevic forced elections for the presidency, the student movement Otpor! (Resistance) took the lead in the making of a non-violent people's revolution. The political climate changed drastically within a period of weeks. This report was filmed with sobre means in the very heart of the organization. It is a fascinating sequence of events that are both scary and hopeful, sad and humorous. Among the highlights of the film are the role training session to prepare for police interrogation, and a radio dicussion programme in which the young activists tell an entire population that it is possible to overcome fear, even after more than a decade of dictatorship.
