Shout
Ester Gould, Sabine Lubbe Bakker
'Shout' follows soul mates Ezat en Bayan who are on the verge of setting out on a journey they have dreamt of ever since they were little. The two friends were born on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, and have lived near the border with their home country Syria all their life. Turning eighteen, they can finally go and study in the Syrian capital Damascus. They say goodbye to family and friends and hit the road. At first, Ezat and Bayan enjoy their new freedom in Damascus. The Syrian capital gradually reveals itself as an individualist place, though, in which it is not always easy to feel at home. And where one has to be careful about what one says. What started as an adventure turns into a dilemma that forces them to choose between the future they always dreamt of and the secure environment they left behind.
