Movies that Matter Festival 2027

We are pleased to announce that the next edition of the Movies that Matter Festival will take place from 19 to 27 March 2027. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Filmmakers: from 1 June 2026, you can submit your film for the 2027 festival.

On Tour and Events

In the meantime, you are warmly invited to attend our events in collaboration with various partners throughout the year.

With Movies that Matter On Tour, we bring a selection of our impactful festival films to 16 theatres throughout the Netherlands. Every month, from October until May, an urgent film or documentary about human rights, freedom and justice – about struggle and hope. Always with context: our local volunteers provide an introduction or follow-up discussion with guest speakers at each screening.
