Internship: Data Marketing
Are you passionate about film and human rights, and eager to make an impact through marketing? Join our marketing team as a Data Marketing Intern from 5 January 2026, and discover what it takes to run an international film festival.
At Movies that Matter, we use film as a powerful tool to highlight injustice and inspire change. Every year we organise the Movies that Matter Festival in The Hague. This is one of the world’s leading human rights film festivals, attracting around 24,000 visitors annually.
What will you do?
As a Data Marketing Intern, you’ll help attract audiences to our festival. You’ll collect and analyse marketing data to develop targeted campaigns and engage returning visitors. But your work goes beyond data. You’ll also take part in creative brainstorming sessions with the marketing team and get hands-on experience during the festival itself.
We encourage new ideas, whether your background is in marketing, data science, communication, or something completely different. You’ll be part of a dedicated, friendly team: a mix of staff members, freelancers, and fellow interns who all share a passion for the festival. Together with the content intern and three staff colleagues, you’ll form the MarCom team. You’ll gain valuable experience in campaigns, audience engagement, teamwork, and the inner workings of a large-scale international film festival.
In short, you will:
- Contribute to email campaigns. From writing and sending to learning what works (and what doesn’t)
- Learn to segment audiences and analyse data
- Support social media and Google campaigns
- Join creative sessions to develop new marketing ideas
- Conduct interviews or write articles for our magazine
- Assist behind the scenes during the festival: from helping the video team to coordinating with press
What we offer
- A chance to make a meaningful contribution to the marketing of a major, purpose-driven event
- Close collaboration with our data marketeer and personal guidance. Movies that Matter is an officially recognised SBB training organisation since 2023.
- Being part of a passionate team dedicated to creating an unforgettable festival experience.
- An internship allowance of €300–€400 per month. If you’re not enrolled in a study programme, you’ll receive a volunteer allowance of €210 per month. Lunch and expenses are covered.
- Accommodation in The Hague during the festival, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, if you live outside the city.
Who are you?
You’re eager to learn and contribute to a meaningful event. You don’t need to be a data or marketing expert yet. Curiosity, creativity, and motivation are what matter most.
You’re comfortable working independently but also enjoy being part of a team. You like to share ideas, ask questions, and pay attention to what others need. You can handle deadlines, stay calm under pressure, and thrive in a dynamic environment as we build up to our nine-day festival in The Hague.
And of course, a love for film and social issues is a big plus.
Period and working days
- Internship period: January 5 – end of April 2026
- Hours: 150-300 total (about 16-20 hours per week, spread over 2–3 days; flexible and partly remote)
- Festival dates: 20–28 March 2026 (The Hague)
- Location: Our main office is in Amsterdam, in the Amnesty International building. From January onward, we’ll also work regularly from Theater aan het Spui in The Hague.
