Movies that Matter wants to broaden views for human rights. We offer a stage to feature films and documentaries about human rights and a just and sustainable society. Films that amaze and inspire. We show these films at the annual Movies that Matter Festival in The Hague, throughout the year in movie theaters around the country, through film festivals in countries where press freedom is at stake, and at secondary schools and vocational schools throughout the Netherlands.
The Movies that Matter Festival 2025 will take place from 21 – 29 March in The Hague. The industry days take place between 22 – 25 March. The industry programme focuses mainly on creating impact with film and consists of closed trainings, masterclasses, pitches and one-on-one meetings. We work with filmmakers, (impact) producers, NGO’s, sales, and representatives of other festivals and organisations.
We explicitly strive for a diverse and inclusive composition of our team where there is room for everyone regardless of ethnic, economic, cultural and religious background, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability, because we believe that this contributes to the successful execution of our mission. If you recognise yourself in this profile, you are invited to apply for this vacancy.
For the upcoming festival we are looking for an intern to support the industry coordinator. Together they will organise a stimulating and surprising industry programme with national and international guests. The job consists of a lot of production work, as well as programming work.
A nice dynamic working environment, the opportunity to gain work experience in a social and cultural organisation, good supervision and an internship/volunteer allowance. The location for the internship is Amsterdam. In the run-up to the festival we will also work in The Hague.
The internship involves an average of 16 hours to 24 hours per week – depending on the availability of the applicant – in the period from January 1 to April 14, 2025. During the industry days (March 22 to 25) you are available full time. Working days in consultation.
As the position is starting at the beginning of January, we will be reviewing the applications as they come in and will fill the position as soon as possible. You can send your cover letter and CV by December 22nd at the latest, by sending an email to Laura Quarto at l.quarto@moviesthatmatter.nl, stating ‘Application Internship Industry Programme’ in the subject line. For questions about the vacancy you can also send an e-mail.
