Internship Description

As a member of the programming team at Movies that Matter, you will be closely involved in preparing the 2026 festival and other events. You’ll handle the administration, requests, and monitoring of films and conduct online research into film programmes of national and international film festivals. You’ll also maintain contact with international rights holders and ensure an up-to-date and well-organised digital film database.

You will watch at least one film per week and evaluate it through our internal database. You will actively participate in meetings of the viewing committee and contribute to curating the short films programme. Additionally, you’ll provide content for the festival newspaper and coordinate film transport. Finally, you’ll perform various administrative and organisational tasks in support of the programming team and general Movies that Matter activities.

You have an affinity for both film and human rights and possess vocational (MBO), college (HBO), or university (WO) level thinking and working skills. You have excellent spoken and written communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus. Experience with administrative tasks and organising events is a bonus, as is knowledge of the cultural or social sector. We are looking for someone who is flexible, accurate, and works independently, while remaining composed under pressure. You have an eye for detail and carry out your tasks with great care and precision.

We offer

A fun, dynamic working environment, the opportunity to gain experience at a socially and culturally engaged organisation, good supervision, and an internship/volunteer allowance. Since 2023, Movies that Matter has also been recognised as an accredited SBB learning company.

You will work 24 hours per week from September 2025 to April 2026. In January and February 2026, your availability should be 32 hours per week, and during the festival week, you will be available full-time. Working days will be determined in consultation.
