Films of Resistance at Nest
In collaboration with Films of Resistance, Het Dooorp, Tabaria Café and initiator Lotte Ottevanger, Nest presents four Palestine films as part of a fundraiser for Palestine.
The doors of Nest open at 18:00, and the first film starts at 18:30. The program will finish by 20:00. Admission is free, and visitors are welcome to donate during the event to support the fundraiser for Palestine.
During this night, the following films will be screened:
- An Orange From Jaffa, Mohammed Almughann
- Bethlehem 2001, Ibrahim Handal
- A Short Film About Kids, Ibrahim Handal
- The Present, Farah Nabulsi
Films of Resistance is a decentralised movement that helps in organising film screenings and fundraisers. FoR believes in the power of cinema to expose, inspire, reflect, frame and reframe.
Films of Resistance splits donations into: 50% of donations go to supporting cultural and grassroots organisations in the occupied territories of Palestine. 40% of the donations go to informal support of productions in process by Palestinian filmmakers based in the region. 10% will be used to cover the screening fees of the films at Films of Resistance screenings.
During the evening, Het Dooorp will host the 1 year anniversary of Tabaria Café at Restaurant Laak. Tabaria Café is a Palestinian pop-up initiative. The café focusses on the helping of exiled Palestinians to connect to their roots, and to learn others about Palestinian heritage.
