Roffa Mon Amour 2025

From August 13 to 24, Roffa Mon Amour returns with its thirteenth festival edition in the sculpture garden of Brutus in Rotterdam West. Among the imposing artworks of Atelier Van Lieshout, you’ll discover colourful and playful films you won’t find anywhere else, meet new people, and be surprised by music, dinners, blind dates, and in-depth programmes.

Travel the world through film

This year, Roffa Mon Amour takes you on a journey through worlds that often remain unseen. From bold fiction to poetic documentaries, cinematic gems, and classics, the festival offers cinema that plays with imagination, perspective, and urgency. In a cozy open-air setting among artworks and atmospheric lighting, you’ll experience film in an intimate and surprising way.

Film Programme

The festival opens with the colorful and musical Reas (2024) by Lola Arias and closes with Happy Together (1997) by Wong Kar Wai, an ode to love, longing, and melancholy. The neighborhood and area come together in the comedic One of Them Days (2025), about friendship, housing, and the power of community. With the aesthetic costume drama about beauty, The Ugly Stepsister (2025), we offer a special three-course dinner. During the Queer Weekender, the films Dreams in Nightmares (2024) and Lesbian Space Princess (2025) present innovative and boundary-pushing queer perspectives. The classic Hackers (1995) and the timely BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions (2025) address urgent social themes through captivating visuals. Roffa Mon Amour presents three specials on Palestine, Indonesia, and Georgia, with films like Yalla Parkour (2024), Djakarta 1946 (2025), and In Bloom (2013), each accompanied by a context program that provides depth and centers voices from the region.

In-depth Programme

In addition to film, the festival offers plenty of space for connection and reflection. The neighborhood programme invites wild foraging, tea-making, and shared meals. Sofie Cuit hosts an intimate dinner during The Ugly Stepsister, Unwanted Words performs at Dreams in Nightmares, Queer Rotterdam organizes speed dates and a mental health workshop, and much more. The specials are enriched with performances, workshops, and discussions, including a petition and workshop by Amnesty International, a keynote by Yulia Pattopang, and a journalistic piece by Margarita Antidze of Project 64 on the current situation in Georgia. There’s also a keynote on digital culture and a blind date.

The full film and context program with ticket sales is online from July 2. Film tickets cost €12.00, with discounts for students and holders of Cineville, Rotterdampas, and We Are Public.
