Education Festival

Would you like to discuss discrimination, identity, conflict, or other social issues in your classroom? During the Movies that Matter Festival every March and throughout the Netherlands with our ‘Film in the Cinema’ programme, we present accessible films on social issues for pupils and students.

Film & Dialogue

At the education festival, we organise film screenings with an in-depth programme in a cinema theatre. Together with a guest speaker, the moderator engages in conversation with the pupils about the themes from the film. In addition, you will receive a ready-made (online) lesson from us to discuss the festival visit in class before and after.

The 2026 Education Festival will take place on the following dates:

  • Amsterdam: Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 March 2026 at the EYE Film Museum
  • The Hague: Monday 23 to Friday 27 March 2026 at Filmhuis Den Haag and Theater aan het Spui

View the film programme for each type of education in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page and check the timetable here.

International Screening

Currently, almost all our educational programmes are in Dutch. We are exploring the possibility of offering them in English. If you are interested, please contact us at educatie@moviesthatmatter.nl.

However, the Education x Activist Special for university (of applied sciences) will be conducted primarily in English.
