HNT x MtM: Buy Now, Pay Later

During the Movies that Matter Education Festival 2024, we hosted a special performance at Theater Dakota for mbo students in collaboration with Het Nationale Theater.

Arm met een dure smaak
Theatre director Gavin-Viano makes Arm met een dure smaak (transl. Broke with expensive taste), a musical narrative about personal experiences with poverty. Three young people struggling with hidden poverty. They dream of a life without money worries but meanwhile have to deal with the harsh reality. The socials show that living in luxury really is achievable, but is this an illusion or reality?

Following the play, Isaura Sanwirjadmo created a three-part documentary series about young people who got into debt at a young age. The series takes a closer look at making debts online, for instance by using afterpay apps like Klarna.

Special during the festival
In this special edition during the Movies that Matter Education Festival 2024, students will watch the documentary series, see a scene from the theatre play and then engage in a conversation about poverty, debt and the danger of online payment options.
