Naomi has never introduced anyone to her mother, who suffers from psychoses and is a drug addicted. Best friend Sam will be the first one.
Naomi chooses to open the doors to the closed institution that is now home to her mother. This documentary shows that it was like for Naomi to grow up with a mother who could barely take care of herself, let alone for Naomi.
