Blind, into the Eye

Logline
Why do Iranian security forces target the eyes of protesters, and thus vision itself? Blind, into the Eye examines this targeted violence during the protests of 2022-23 in Iran and sheds light on the powerful role of images in the political context. The film shows the editing process in which the authors mix subjective and objective narratives.
Impact Statement
“With Blind, into the Eye we aim to foster awareness about the act of deliberate blinding during protests and the critical role of images and cameras in political contexts. Through community screenings, we will create spaces to engage with audiences, academics, and activists, discussing the power of visual storytelling as resistance and shedding light on similar global incidents. I also plan to develop an archive and website dedicated to the protest images, alongside publishing a book in collaboration with affected communities and cinephiles, ensuring the preservation and continued discussion of these stories. Potential partners include human rights organizations, academic institutions, and film networks.”
Goal at Take on Film & Impact
“At Movies that Matter, we aim to connect with NGOs, impact producers, and broadcasters to explore collaborative opportunities for amplifying the message of Blind, into the Eye. My goals include finding partners for community screenings, building a network for an awareness-raising campaign, and exchanging ideas with like-minded individuals on the role of images in political resistance. we also hope to engage with organizations that can support the creation of an archive, a book project, and a platform to preserve and discuss the narratives of protest images.”
