Not a Statue
Sylvie Vernyuy Njobati & Marc Sebastian Eils
Logline
How did the sacred statue Ngonnso get from Cameroon to Germany? And how should the colonial heritage be dealt with today? In search for answers, a young activist embarks on a journey in archives, museums and palaces.
Impact Statement
“With our film we want to spark a conversation about African cultural heritage in European museums. In African countries, and Cameroon in particular, we plan to organize screenings at educational institutions to discuss the lasting impact of colonial structures. In Europe, we want to partner with ethnological museums to offer new perspectives to museum professionals. We also aim at political stakeholders in both Africa and Europe in order for them to facilitate restitutions.”
Goal at Take on Film & Impact
“Meeting Broadcasters, African Impact Producers and World Sales”
