Workshop: Ode to Your Clothes

The Naaierij believes that the more you love your clothes, the longer you’ll wear them. At their booth during the festival, you can write a love letter to your favourite item of clothing on a fabric tag. Decorate it with embroidery thread or use a piece of one of our old festival flags. Take it home with you and contribute to a large embroidery artwork at the festival.

“Come by and write a love letter to your clothes,” says the team of the clothing repair shop the Naaierij. “Have you ever stopped to think about what you’re wearing and what it means to you? This is your chance to truly connect with your clothing.” 

During the workshop, you’ll get creative and learn practical skills. “It’s not just about making something beautiful, but also learning how to take care of and repair your clothes,” explain the Naaierij. “You can do small repairs with needle and thread, or even work on an artwork that’s created with others. We want to show you how to build a deeper connection with your clothes. It’s about understanding what these items mean to you.” 

You’ll also receive useful tips on clothing repair and maintenance. The Naaierij will help you view your clothes from a creative and mindful perspective—so that less gets thrown away and more is cherished.
