Kabul, City in the Wind

Aboozar Amini

In Kabul, City in the Wind, two brothers and a bus driver form the center of a heart-breaking portrait of daily life in Kabul. A city that was known as a paradise in the 60s has now been at war for forty years. It faces constant threats of attacks by the Taliban, ISIS, al-Qaida or one of the other twenty extremist groups.

Young teenager Afshin and his little brother Benjamin grew up in this horrific situation but try to keep their heads high. They take care of their family despite all the poverty and violence. Also bus driver Abas’ only happiness is his family. He provides for them by driving his rickety bus through the dangerous streets of Kabul. When his bus breaks down and he loses his income, he is chased by creditors.

Aboozar Amini debuted with this documentary in which he portrays the two gripping stories.  He returned to his homeland to capture the reality of the situation in Kabul and wants to show, in addition to the fear, poverty and terrorism, the strong mentality of Afghan residents.
