Stifling drama about a ship hijacking off the coast of Somalia. Morten is a cook on board a large cargo ship in the Indian Ocean. After a long journey he is finally on his way home to return to his wife and little daughter. Then, however, the ship is attacked by pirates. It turns out to be the start of a tough struggle to survive.
After a long journey at sea, the cargo ship Rosen is hijacked by Somali pirates. The ship’s cook Morten is used by the pirates as a mouthpiece in their communication with the shipping company. He must ensure that a ransom will be paid. This results in a nerve-racking game between life and death, causing the hostages to live in fear and uncertainty and under constant threat for months on end.
Director Tobias Lindholm has written the scenario for The Hunt (Jagten) as well as twenty episodes of Borgen. He was able to secure the services of two protagonists from this successful series, Pilou Asbæk and Søren Malling, for this film. Furthermore, Lindholm directed the film R and the recently released A War (Krigen) – the opening film of the Movies that Matter Festival 2016.
