Masterclass Leonard Retel Helmrich

This masterclass with Leonard Retel Helmrich - the only Dutchman to ever win the top prize at the Sundance film festival (with De Stand van de Maan) - concludes the screening of the acclaimed triptych De Stand van de Zon (2001), De Stand van de Maan (2004) and De Stand van de Sterren (2010) during the Movies that Matter Festival 2016.

For twelve years, Leonard Retel Helmrich followed a family that tries to survive during political and religious conflicts in Indonesia in this triptych. Based on film fragments, in the masterclass Retel Helmrich discussed among other things the Single Shot Cinema film technique he developed and the accompanying Steadywing camera, which makes his unique style possible.
