Medialab Presents

At Medialab Presents we screen five short films made by status holders. The films span different genres (fiction, animation and documentary) and are produced by Buddy Film Foundation and ReFOCUS Media Labs (Camp Moria). 

Nothing About Us without Us, the latest film by the ReFOCUS Media Labs collective, will have its world premiere. The film serves as a call to action for mainstream media to develop a new standard of engagement with the communities they report upon. The 32-minute film was written, directed and edited by Nazanin Foroghi and Yaser Akbari, two senior citizen journalists and teaching artists, together with their mentor Douglas Herman from ReFOCUS Media Labs collective. Commissioned by Allianz Kulturstiftung, this documentary was filmed by their core team of citizen journalists who continue to chronicle the struggles faced by asylum seekers and refugees on Lesvos, Greece since 2019.
