Sex voor 5 euro

Margit Balogh

Just before the kick-off of the 2014 World Cup, Dutch celebrity and TV host Yolanthe Sneijder-Cabau will be travelling to Brazil to meet child prostitutes. Shocked by the poverty and lack of perspective in the favelas, she provides the girls with a platform to speak out. Meanwhile, she is regularly on the phone with her husband Wesley Sneijder, a famous soccer player.

As founder of the Free a Girl foundation Yolanthe Sneijder-Cabau attempts to put an end to the exploitation of under-age girls working in the global sex industry. In the run-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Yolanthe sizes up the situation in the South-American country. She visits the city of Fortaleze to talk to local prostitutes about their experiences in the sex industry. For many women in the poor favelas prostitution or drug dealing is the only way to survive. She also visits a prison where numerous men serve long sentences for having sex with minors. Yolanthe tries to find out what motivates them to abuse children, although most of them claim to be innocent.
World premiere at the 2014 Movies that Matter Festival, in the presence of Yolanthe Sneijder-Cabau.
