The street is no longer the only platform for protest. Creative activists also use the Internet and video images as a medium, and that seems to work. Thanks to the power of video and the Internet, activists can make a statement or set change in motion. Countless examples show that images can unleash international action. Every month, the film programme Upload Cinema takes Internet shorts to the big screen. In co-operation with Upload Cinema Movies that Matter presents 'Saved by YouTube', a special program on activism on the Internet. For several months Internet users could send in their favourite films, leading to hundreds of entries being submitted. An editorial team ultimately selected the best, most inspiring and most remarkable film and video extracts on the web to compile an exciting programme, which is screened at film theatres.
