Heartwarming road movie about the adventurous journey of former leper Beshay. After the death of his wife he bravely decides to leave the leper community where he was abandoned as a child, to find his family. Along with Obama, the young orphan he has taken under his wing, and his beloved donkey, he embarks on a journey across Egypt.

As a young child Beshay’s father abandoned him in a leper colony in the middle of the Egyptian dessert. After the death of his wife, Beshay bravely decides to leave the community  in search of his family. Along with Obama, the young orphan he has taken under his wing, and his beloved donkey, he embarks on an adventurous journey across Egypt. The trip is not an easy one: the donkey is exhausted and Beshay’s scarred appearance seems to scare people. Nevertheless Beshay and Obama stay positive: they help each other through struggles and discover that they can overcome obstacles by staying hopeful, proud and trusting. Kind road movie about the friendship between two outcasts, looking for family and a place to belong. This feature debut by Egyptian Austrian director regisseur A.B. Shawky was the only debut in the competition at Cannes 2018.
