Internship: Content Marketing

Do you have a passion for films and documentaries from all over the world? And would you like to contribute to impactful marketing communications? Apply now for the Content Marketing internship (24 hours per week) and discover up close what goes into organising a film festival.

The Movies that Matter Festival is one of the world’s leading human rights film festivals. For nine days, visitors can watch important films and engage in conversations with activists and filmmakers from all over the world. In addition, there are numerous exhibitions and activities such as a Pub Quiz, a book swap, and a Queer Night.

The Marketing & Communications team forms an important link between the different teams within Movies that Matter. The team consists of a Head of Marketing & Communications, a Festival & Audience Marketer, a Content Marketer, an Audience & Engagement intern, and a Content Marketing intern. During your internship, you will assist with day-to-day support in the run-up to and during the Movies that Matter Festival (19–27 March 2027 in The Hague).

What will you do?

  • You help keep our website, database, and social media channels up to date.
  • You come up with and create creative content, such as articles for our online magazine or a cool short-form video series.
  • You design visuals for our social media and print materials, always in line with our house style, or you work with existing templates from our design agency.
  • During the festival, you are the key person coordinating our photography team, ensuring we always capture the right images.
  • You help set up and roll out audience research.
  • You support the Marketing & Communications team in many ways: from sharing your ideas and feedback in brainstorm sessions to helping execute campaigns and content plans. And who knows, that one merchandise item everyone will be wearing might just come from your idea!

Who are you?

  • You have a passion for film and social issues.
  • You likely have a background in graphic design, media & culture, film & TV, journalism, creative business, or marketing & communications.
  • You write clearly and fluently in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • You can work independently, are flexible, and have a keen eye for detail.
  • You have experience with design tools such as Adobe CC programs, Figma, Canva, and/or CapCut.
  • You are creative and aware of the latest online trends.
  • You have a sense for typography, color use, and know how to tell visual stories.

What do we offer you?

An inspiring and dynamic internship within a cultural and socially engaged organization with a passion for film and human rights. You will gain valuable work experience, receive good supervision, and become part of a committed team. You will also build a relevant network within the (film) festival world.

You will receive an internship allowance of €300–€400. If your internship is not part of a study programme, you will receive a volunteer allowance of €210 per month. On office days, lunch is provided. Watching films during working hours? Absolutely – that’s part of the job!

If you need to conduct research for your studies, there is plenty of room for that in consultation with your internship supervisor.

Location

You will work from our office in the Amnesty International building on Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. One day of remote work per week is also possible. During the Movies that Matter Festival (19–27 March 2027), we temporarily move to The Hague—there you will stay in a hotel with the team so you can experience the festival from start to finish.

Internship period

The Content Marketing internship runs from 1 September 2026 to 17 April 2027 and is approximately 24 hours per week. Exact working days, hours, and duration will be agreed upon with you. During the festival, you are expected to be available full-time and actively involved in all activities.
