Internship Description

As an intern within the Movies that Matter programme team, you will be closely involved in the preparation of the 2027 festival and other events. During the first months of the internship, you will be busy administering, requesting, and monitoring films, and conducting online research into film programs of national and international film festivals. You will maintain contact with international rights holders and ensure an up-to-date and well-organised digital film database. You will watch at least two films per week and evaluate them through our internal database. You will also actively participate in meetings of the viewing committee and contribute to the composition of the shorts programme.

From January onward, you will take part in program production tasks and co-develop and organise in-depth programmes accompanying the films. In addition, you will provide content input for the website and festival newspaper and support film transport. Finally, you will carry out various administrative and organizational tasks to support the programming and general activities of Movies that Matter.

Requirements

  • You have an affinity with film and human rights, and you are highly detail-oriented.
  • You have an MBO, HBO, or university level of thinking and working.
  • You can express yourself excellently in both spoken and written English; proficiency in Dutch is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with administrative tasks and organizing events is a plus, as is knowledge of the cultural or social sector.
  • We are looking for someone who is flexible, accurate, and able to work independently, and who can handle increased workload in the months leading up to the festival.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to carry out tasks with great care and precision are essential for this internship.

We Offer

A fun and dynamic working environment, access to the latest international and national films on human rights – both feature films and documentaries – and an opportunity to gain work experience in a social and cultural organisation with careful, high-quality, and personal guidance.

Location

Our office is located in the building of Amnesty International, at Keizersgracht 177 in Amsterdam. During the festival, we relocate the office to The Hague. Part of the internship will be done from home.

Time and Period
