Films that Make Noise: Raving Iran
Together with The Hague pop venue PAARD, we are launching the film series Films that Make Noise. A series of high-profile protest films in which the connection between music and social change takes center stage. On Friday 20 February, it will be time for the second film in the series: Raving Iran.
About the film
Arash and Anoosh dream of a career as techno DJs, but this goal is virtually unattainable in Iran. So they mix at illegal rave parties and try to sell their album ‘under the counter’ in record shops. Their dream seems to vanish after one of them is arrested, but then an invitation to perform at a major dance festival in Switzerland opens up new perspectives.
Talk
After the film, moderator Jesse Evers will engage in a discussion with the audience and Kourosh. Kourosh is an Iranian-Dutch producer, rapper, and vocalist whose music fuses hip-hop, pop, electronic, rock, punk-rap, drum and bass, and UKG—blending English and occasional Farsi lyrics into a sound that’s uniquely his. Gritty and underground at heart, his style still resonates with a broad and growing audience. His work often reflects a strong sense of social and political awareness, woven naturally into both his music and artistic vision.
