2020, 14 minutes

The wonderful world of the ocean feels like home to 14-year-old Julieta, but the amount of plastic pollution makes her extremely mad. Staying positive and believing that you can create a better world is a difficult task.

14-year-old Julieta lives on the Caribbean island of Curaçao and prefers to be under water rather than above. The wonderful, exciting world of the ocean feels like home to Julieta. Everything stops there for a moment. Next to meeting sea turtles and countless kinds of fish, she is increasingly confronted with large amounts of waste on the seabed and that makes her extremely mad. The fishing nets, the plastic and the consequences of climate change pose a serious threat to all life in the ocean. Together with other volunteers on Curaçao, Julieta rescues sea turtles in need and tries to improve their habitat. But the more she engages in this, the more she realizes that environmental problems from all over the world are connected. Her actions sometimes only feel like a drop in the ocean for Julieta. Staying positive and believing that you can create a better world and future is a difficult task.
