Teachers’ Day
On Monday 23 March, Movies that Matter, in collaboration with Filmhub South Holland and Filmhuis Den Haag, is organizing a teachers’ afternoon for teachers and education professionals. An afternoon full of insights, tools, and practical takeaways to help discuss social issues in the classroom. Please note: this programme is in Dutch.
Programme
Screening Shorts Special: The Present & A Lien
During this Shorts Special we watch two short films about how rules, borders, and systems influence the daily lives of ordinary people. With these two short films, we aim to show how systems can work against people and how frustrating it can be when you have no control over your own life.
Thematic discussion
After the screening of the films, we will engage in a joint discussion on the themes of these films. We will discuss how the films affect us and what they say about freedom, safety, and rules—not only in films, but also in the Netherlands. We will also discuss the role film can play in the renewed core objectives for Citizenship education.
Closing drinks
We will conclude the afternoon with a convivial drink, during which we reflect on the day together. A great moment to exchange experiences and ideas.
