How to Blow Up a Pipeline

Daniel Goldhaber

A group of young environmental activists, all with very different stories, prepare to blow up a Texas oil pipeline. A nail-biting, ingenuously constructed thriller by director Daniel Goldhaber. Based on Andreas Malm’s controversial non-fiction book of the same name, which describes sabotage as a necessary form of climate activism.

‘We need to start attacking the things that are killing us,’ says young environmental activist Xochitl (Ariela Barer). Frustrated by the slow progress in the fight against climate change, she feels that sabotage and property destruction are the only effective methods left. As the note says that she leaves under the windshield of an SUV she’s just slashed the tires of: ‘If the law will not punish you, then we will.’

Together with a crew of young activists, a daring mission is prepared: to blow up an oil pipeline in West Texas. As D-Day draws near, tensions rise. Is hot-headed native American Michael up to the task of constructing the explosive? Can Alisha overcome her doubts? Are lovers Logan and Rowan able to sober up enough from their fanatic drug and alcohol intake? And can everybody really be trusted? With a fantastic cast, including Sasha Lane (American Honey) as the troubled Theo.
