Industry: Journalism Under Pressure

In a time when the role of independent journalism — a hard-won pillar of democracy — is increasingly challenged, undermined, violated, and censored, Movies that Matter continues to shine a spotlight on the vital work of journalists around the world.

This commitment is reflected not only in the selection of films but also in this panel discussion. Filmmakers, journalists, and media experts come together to explore and debate the state of journalism and its relationship to freedom and democracy. It is a vast subject, but one that remains essential to address.

The panel features András Földes (director of 80 Angry Journalists and war correspondent), Robert Zuber (journalist, director and producer based in Zagreb), Iris de Leede (Senior Policy & Advocacy Advisor bij Free Press Unlimited) and Lars Boering (European Journalism Centre). The talk will be moderated by Romana Abels, journalist at Dutch newspaper Trouw.

Presented in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited.
