Three Kilometres to the End of the World

Grand Jury Fiction Dutch premiere

In a small Romanian village, Dragoi, a devout family man, owes a sizable debt to local gangster Zentov. When his 17-year-old son, Adi, is viciously attacked by Zentov’s sons, Dragoi assumes it’s a warning to settle his dues. However, he uncovers a far more harrowing truth—Adi was not targeted over his father’s debts, but because of his sexual orientation.

What begins as a father’s desperate attempt to protect his son soon becomes a battle against a corrupt system determined to silence the case. As the community closes ranks, Dragoi is forced to confront not only his own beliefs but the deeply ingrained prejudices of his community. Meanwhile, Adi struggles with the pain of betrayal—not just from his attackers, but from a society that refuses to accept him. The seeming tranquility of the village fractures, revealing an undercurrent of violence, hypocrisy, and fear.

Three Kilometers to the End of the World is a gripping drama that exposes the aftermath of a homophobic hate crime and the forces working to bury the truth. With powerful performances and a relentless narrative, the film lays bare the weight of tradition, the cost of silence, and the courage it takes to fight for justice in a world determined to look away.
