“This Is Not an Apple” follows Palestinian siblings Reda, Yahya, and Maria, who live in an Oslo suburb marked by gang related violence. Their sense of safety is shattered when the brothers are stabbed by former friends. Caught between pain and anger, they struggle with their mother’s call to forgive.
Impact Statement
In Norway, the plan is to expand the Lif Laga group and its subgroups by four times, as well as establish apple orchards in four new prisons. This would increase activity in Norwegian prisons to support inmate rehabilitation and provide meaningful work, while also creating necessary opportunities for Lif Laga groups outside the prison system. Abroad, the goal is to establish at least one Lif Laga group in another country, along with a nearby prison that has an apple orchard. Additionally, the initiative includes informing the EU Parliament and organizing a film screening about the Lif Laga business plan, supported by documentation and results from Norway to demonstrate that this approach is effective in reducing youth crime and improving integration in European cities.

Goal at Take on Film & Impact
“Our goal at Movies That Matter is to identify one or two countries for an impact campaign and connect with one to two local partner organizations to collaborate on its implementation. We are seeking funding partners, NGOs, and impact producers to help launch and sustain the initiative. Potential focus countries include Sweden, Denmark, the Benelux region, France, or Germany. We are also looking to connect with a local project manager or impact producer in one or two of these countries to lead the campaign and ensure effective local coordination and impact.”
