Closing Party

During the closing night, we’ll look back on the highlights of the Movies that Matter Festival 2026 and celebrate the festival’s finale in style!

Audience Award Presentation

Before the closing film, the Movies that Matter Audience Award, supported by the NPO, will be presented. This award goes to the filmmaker of a film from the official selection (excluding specials, short films, premieres, and classics) that receives the highest average score in the audience poll.

Closing Film: Divine Comedy

Sharp satire by Iranian director Ali Asgari about the slow grind of censorship and the absurdity of repression. Bahram is a 40-year-old filmmaker whose films have all been banned by the Ministry of Culture. When his latest work is once again denied permission, he’s pushed to the edge of defiance.

Closing Party

After the film, you can hang out (or dance!) in the foyer for the closing party. For several years now, we have been closing our festival with INDIEGLORIA. Just like you, people from The Hague long for an alternative dance floor every weekend—Wouter Andeweg and Abel Vlaanderen included. Frustrated by how few options there were, they decided to start INDIEGLORIA. As a DJ duo, they blend Amyl & The Sniffers with Jamie xx, Fontaines D.C. with Wet Leg, and Arctic Monkeys with The Dare. Last summer, INDIEGLORIA performed at Down The Rabbit Hole, Lowlands, and Into The Great Wide Open. During the club season, the duo can be found spinning at Rotown, de Zwarte Ruiter, and Wibar.
