Special

(S)exposed

(S)exposed is an art installation that makes street harassment impossible to ignore. Through an immersive audio experience, you step into the shoes of someone being harassed in a dark alley. For many people, this is an everyday reality. Because you only truly understand it when you experience it yourself, Studio Ongepast invites you to feel it first-hand.

Studio Ongepast uses art to open up conversations around social issues and break taboos. The initiative was founded by two socially engaged makers from The Hague, Safiye Janson and Lotte Ottevanger. Safiye studied sociology and is fascinated by the city, sexuality and social inequality. Lotte is a multidisciplinary artist creating socially critical work. Since October 2025, she has also been the Night Mayor of The Hague, focusing on social safety, inclusion and diversity in nightlife.

Ten years ago, they discovered they shared similar experiences and frustrations around street harassment. Those conversations became the starting point for Studio Ongepast. Through their projects, they createspace for reflection, dialogue and awareness. Not by lecturing, but by inviting people to think together about how street harassment can be addressed as a shared responsibility. Street harassment affects us all. Experience what it feels like to be confronted with it in the art installation (S)exposed.
