Q&A with the directors Sara Khaki & Mohammadreza Eyni

During the after-talk Q&A, moderator Mira Chowdhury together with directors Sara Khaki & Mohammadreza Eyni will discuss female representation in Iran’s regional politics and Iranian women’s emancipation through financial independence and education for girls.

Opening Pop-Up Exhibition: Woman, Life, Freedom: Iranian Women’s Resistance
After the Q&A, you are warmly invited to the opening of the pop-up exhibition “Woman, Life, Freedom: Iranian Women’s Resistance” in the festival hub, the foyer of Theater aan het Spui. This pop-up is a preview of the exhibition currently on display at the Verzetsmuseum Amsterdam, where it will run until August 16.

Under the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom,” Iranians took to the streets en masse at the end of 2022, a movement that grew into a global wave of protest. The exhibition highlights the diversity of this movement and places the resistance within a long historical context, while also showing the urgency and courage that remain relevant today. At its core are the strength and resilience of women and other Iranians who, despite great risks, continue to resist oppression and inequality.

The pop-up will be officially opened by Karlien Metz, director of the Verzetsmuseum. Afterwards, you are welcome to join for drinks and visit the exhibition.
