Q&A with the experts Ali Aljasem and Petra Stienen

The screening of Killing Anna will be followed by an aftertalk focusing on the legal challenges and personal consequences of questioning a war criminal. With Assad having fallen, the discussion will also look ahead to the implications for justice in Syria in the future. The guest speakers will be Syria Expert with a PhD in Conflict Studies Ali Aljasem and an independent advisor on human rights Petra Stienen.

Ali Aljasem holds a PhD in Conflict Studies from Utrecht University. His research focuses on pro-government militias of the Assad regime. Ali has over ten years of field experience in the humanitarian and development sectors. He has worked for international organisations, including Doctors Without Borders and the Dialogue Advisory Group. 

Petra Stienen is an author, advisor, leadership coach and conversation leader. She was a diplomat from 1992 to 2009, focusing on the Middle East, the United States and the European Union.

The Q&A is moderated by Chris Keulemans, a traveling writer, journalist and seasoned discussion leader with extensive experience in cultural debate, social issues and human rights.
