A look behind the scenes of the tourist industry in Turkey. In Nashira Resort, a gigantic all-inclusive hotel on the Turkish Riviera, Hakan and Ismail hope to make some money. But they both have very different dreams. Touching portrait of people who are easily overlooked.
At the start of a summer season in the gorgeous Turkish Nashira Resort, Hakan and Ismail are new additions to the service staff. Hakan wants to become a lifeguard to overcome his social anxiety disorder. He also wants to learn English to move to the US, where he dreams of making a movie. He reads poetry and philosophy: Nietzsche and Schopenhauer are his favourites. And he gambles, like his hero Dostoyevsky.
Timid Ismail is 18 and far away from his home village. He dropped out of school to earn money for his family. He dreams of working as a hairdresser, but at the hotel, he’s a kitchen help. HR manager Alper tells him to take a picture of himself and hang it next to his mirror. ‘Look at it again when you leave to see how you’ve changed,’ he says. Will Ismail and Hakan endure a summer filled with demanding tourists?
