Yoav Shamir

Joris Ivens Award-winner Yoav Shamir goes on a personal search into the meaning of anti-Semitism in the contemporary western world. Shamir himself has never personally had to deal with anti-Semitism, but it is a burning issue for many Jews.
Shamir follows young Jewish Israelis on a visit to Poland. He speaks with Abe Foxman, survivor of the Holocaust and director of the American Anti-Defamation League. Foxman dedicated his life to warning about and combating anti-Semitism. Shamir also speaks with historian Norman Finkelstein, known for his controversial book ‘The Holocaust Industry’. Finkelstein takes Israeli politicians and Jewish interest groups to task for taking advantage of the memory of the Holocaust, for financial and political gain. Is the Holocaust being misused to justify Israeli actions in the conflict with Palestine?
