Fourteen years after the documentary That’s why I’m working filmmakers Maarten Schmidt & Thomas Doebele went back to the children of the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh. At the time the children were able to go to school in addition to their work. The stories of the childrenfrom the first film are interwoven with today’s reality: the hard labor in the textile industry, the problems involving arranged marriages and the heavy financial responsibility for the family. Parents keep to the traditional norms and values, while their children are beginning to have other ideas.
