Pakistani husband Haider falls in love with trans female performer Biba. At the same time, Haider’s wife Mumtaz seeks her own sexual and social liberation. Complex love story and family drama from Pakistan, about finding room to breathe in a constricted, sternly patriarchal environment.

Haider Rana lives with his wife Mumtaz, his father and his brother’s family in a townhouse in Lahore, Pakistan. While Mumtaz works, Haider takes care of the three young daughters of his brother Kaleem and sister-in-law Nucchi. Haider hasn’t yet lived up to the expectations of his conservative, but kind-hearted father: not only doesn’t he have a job, but he and Mumtaz didn’t manage to produce children as well.

When Haider gets hired as a backing dancer at an ‘erotic dance theatre’, he tells his family he is a stage manager. And when he falls in love with trans performer Biba, he has another secret to conceal. Inspired by Biba, Haider goes searching for the courage to stand up for himself and defy social and religious norms. He finds a partner in Mumtaz, who is trying to find her own independence. Deeply touching drama, beautifully acted and filmed in sensitive, warm visual tones.
