Sorry We Missed You

Ken Loach

Sorry We Missed You is the latest film by two-time Golden Palm winner Ken Loach (I, Daniel Blake) and tells the honest and poignant story of a family that tries to recover from the economic crisis in modern-day England.

Ricky and Abby live in Newcastle together with their 15-year-old son Seb and 11-year-old daughter Liza Jane. The family has been struggling to get by since the economic crisis struck. Abby works long hours as a home carer, whereas Ricky lost his employment in the construction industry and earns some money on the side with small building jobs. In an attempt to improve their financial situation and re-establish a stable family life, Ricky cuts a franchise deal with a large mail-order company to work as an independent parcel delivery driver. But soon the workload escalates and he finds himself entangled in all sorts of rules and protocols. What should have been an opportunity to secure a better future turns out to be a millstone around the family’s neck.
