Tomboy

Céline Sciamma

10-year-old girl Laure moves with her parents and sister Jeanne to a small town on the outskirts of Paris. During the summer holidays, when all the neighbourhood children play outside, Laure feels left out. Until she meets Lisa, also 10 years old. From their first conversation, Lisa is convinced that Laure is a boy. The boyish Laure happily goes along with this and introduces herself as Mickäel. Lisa introduces Mickäel to the neighbourhood children and soon 'he' is one of them. As the carefree summer comes to an end, it becomes increasingly complicated for Laure to keep her secret.
