Podcast #5: Abortion Dream Team

In the fifth episode of the Movies that Matter podcast, programme maker Julia Muller talks to activist Justyna Wydrzyńska from Abortion Dream Team, which supports women by providing information about safe home abortion options, and to director Karolina Domagalska about her impressive film and motivations. The conversation took place immediately after the screening during the Movies that Matter Festival. by Staff 28 September, 2025

The Abortion Dream Team (Polish: Aborcyjny Dream Team, ADT) is an organisation that informs women about the possibilities of safely performing an abortion at home. The team facilitates access to safe and affordable abortion by educating women about the use of abortion pills.

The documentary of the same name, Abortion Dream Team, follows four women from the team who are fighting for abortion rights in Poland, a country with strict anti-abortion laws. One of them, Justyna Wydrzyríska, is criminally charged with ‘intent to aid an abortion’. While Justyna’s case attracts international attention, it also brings back her own past trauma and reveals deeply rooted motives for her activism. Read more about the documentary.

In the podcast, Justyna Wydrzyńska and director Karolina Domagalska discuss with moderator Julia Muller the changes brought about by Abortion Dream Team, the consequences of criminalising abortion, and the impact of the political situation in Poland on Justyna’s trial.
